August 1st, yikes!

Sometimes it's all about the anticipation. Every school year, right after spring break, I get it. The Itch. The itch for summer vacation. And I just can't wait.  I repeat those 3 words over and over again to anyone who will listen. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait! Then the beginning of June rolls around and it hits me full force. Oh those lovely lazy days of summer vacation are right around the corner. The last day of school comes and it's like Christmas morning!  Every morning of summer vacation is like a shiny new gift to open. Not having to hit the snooze button at 5:15.  Sitting in my P.J.'s sipping my coffee while Robert plays with his trucks.  For a while it seems like it will last forever.

Then all of a sudden I wake up and it's August 1st. August 1st is like mini-panic day.  School doesn't officially start for me until after Labor Day, but I'll be back way before that, in mind and body. In a couple of weeks I'll be shopping for classroom materials, before this month is over I'll be back in my classroom again, cleaning, and hanging and organizing and all that good stuff.  So to calm my August 1st nerves down, I'm going to list a few things I want to do before summer's end. I was thinking of them this morning, and sadly (for my waist line), most of them involve food:
1. Eat a slice of boardwalk pizza.
2. Eat a funnel cake.
3. See Harry Potter and get some real movie theater popcorn.
4. Go to a delicious seafood restaurant.
5. More time at the beach.
6. Go back to school outlet shopping and have lunch at cute little cafe.
7. Lots of morning walks with Robert to burn off all the calories I will be consuming.
Have a great August!

  2. Your list made me laugh--mine would be similar. I love how it includes food and walking. I think that's a great match! I would like to join you for the pizza, funnel cake, and Harry Potter.
