To the Zoo

We headed to the Philadelphia zoo on a perfect 50 something degree mid February day to celebrate the start of our 4 day weekend. We encountered a lot of huge sleeping cats and a couple of running giraffes. Have you ever seen a giraffe run? Well I hadn't and let me tell you, it was a pretty neat sight!

Fantasy vs. Reality

I've had it in mind to where this outfit a few times this year and never went through with it. That's because I knew deep down that while this outfit would look fine, even good, I would be majorly uncomfortable all day. As a teacher sometimes it's hard to wear high heels and pencil skirts. As a Kindergarten teacher, it's even harder. Ever trying squatting down to a 5 year old's level in a pencil skirt? It's not fun! I mostly have a fear of the skirt ripping, lol. Primary grades involve a lot of sitting in little chairs and on the carpet, which make more structured skirts and dresses a little difficult to wear.  I pulled the trigger on this dress/cardigan/heels combo because it was parent/teacher conference day and I like to look more "dressed up" on those days. I have to say, I felt pretty in this dress yesterday. I also felt like I couldn't move around as freely and my feet were killing me an hour into the day (and I usually have a back up pair of flats but forgot them!) Needless to say, it was sweatpants and snuggie time as soon as I walked in the door to my house! I do like this dress though, so I'll try to sneak one more wear in before the end of the school year... on a day when I have 2 specials.. and with flats :)

Color Combos

I am not the most adventurous when it comes to combining colors so I thought I would step out of my comfort zone a little and throw on the red shoes to spice up the light blue in my top. I had a few people tell me they liked it and they would never think to combine those colors. I am going to put these red wedges down as my favorite purchase of the fall/winter season. I wear them to work and on the weekends with jeans. They have proven to be a very versatile addition to my wardrobe!

Pink and Grey on Valentine's Day!

I hope the blur is at least hiding my wrinkles :)

I've always thought of Valentine's Day as more of a "pink" holiday than a "red" one. Red is for Christmas if you ask me. And I happen to like pink more than red so there you go!

Oh and Valentine's Day + 100th Day of School falling on the same day = INSANITY
The good news is.. 100 down, 82 to go!

Monster Truck Attire

This past Saturday we took R to the Monster Jam truck show. It was my first monster truck experience and I was stumped on what to wear. I figured some plaid would be fitting :)
The show was fun, I was really pulling for the truck called "crushtation" in the shape of a giant crab. Alas, crushtation did not pull it out for me. The next day we headed to a superbowl party. Definitely a "guys" weekend but I realized that I don't need any tea parties, I'll take the monster trucks with my boys any day :)

Casual Professional Day

Today we had one of those teacher professional development days. You know, the kind when the kids don't show up but the teachers have to and you get to collaborate with your colleagues, develop new strategies, and go back to work the next day feeling refreshed and energized!

...At least that is what usually happens! Today's professional development wound up becoming a little nuts and a little LOUD during the Kindergarten grade level meeting portion. Looking forward to a quieter day with my kiddos tomorrow!
